UK IPO – disruption of digital services between 31 December 2020 (11pm) and 4 January 2021 (4pm)
The UK IPO will be closed from Friday 25 December 2020 until Monday 28 December 2020. Deadlines falling in this time are extended until Tuesday 29 December 2020. Hindles will be open on each day when the UK IPO is open.
The coronavirus crisis is not the only event which the UK IPO has to deal with this year-end – there is also Brexit. Due to necessary amendments, including creating over 2 million UK clones of EU trade mark and design registrations, and maintenance to the systems at the UK IPO, normal service will be subject to disruption. This is expected to run from 11pm on 31 December 2020 until 4pm on 4 January 2021, and digital services will be unavailable during this period. Services using paper forms are unaffected.
Any deadlines set by the IPO in respect of trade mark or design applications falling on 31 December 2020, 1 January 2021 or 4 January 2021 should be responded to in advance of the deadline.
