Jemma Brown

UK and European Patent Attorney

Jemma qualified as a European patent attorney in 2023 and as a UK patent attorney in 2024. She joined Hindles in June 2023, having previously worked as a trainee at another UK IP firm since October 2019.

Jemma has a background in Physics, having obtained a MPhys from the University of Oxford. During her undergraduate degree, Jemma enjoyed gaining experience in the telecommunications industry through an internship with Huawei Technologies in Shenzhen, China.

Jemma went on to complete a MRes in medical imaging and a PhD in biomedical engineering from King’s College London. Her PhD research focussed on super-resolution ultrasound imaging. This work involved using microbubble contrast agents to improve the resolution of diagnostic ultrasound for imaging microvasculature.

Jemma has experience in prosecuting patent applications before UKIPO and EPO, as well as working with attorneys in other jurisdictions (primarily the US, Japan and China) to help clients build their international IP portfolios. She also has experience in drafting applications, preparatory work for opposition proceedings, and UK registered design work. During her time in the profession, Jemma has enjoyed working on a broad range of subject-matter including X-ray analysis, medical imaging, drug delivery, semiconductor technologies, glass manufacturing, consumer goods and telecommunications.
