Fiona has an academic and professional background in languages and translation, having obtained an undergraduate degree in Russian and Slavonic Studies from the University of Glasgow and a postgraduate degree in Applied Translation Studies from the University of Leeds. She began her career in the translation industry as a project manager, where she was responsible for the delivery of multilingual website translation and localisation projects. Fiona has also spent time in Moscow, where she worked as a translator and editor, and taught English for business to clients in Russian and multinational companies.
Fiona joined the legal sector in 2016 as an administrative team leader at a leading Scottish law firm and completed a Graduate Diploma in Law, with a focus on paralegal practice, at the University of Stirling. She joined Hindles the following year to progress her career within the field of intellectual property.
Fiona works closely with the attorney team and the wider firm, providing paralegal and administrative support on the management of trade mark and patent portfolios, including correspondence with clients, attorney associates and intellectual property offices, preparing trade mark and patent applications, utilising intellectual property databases and websites to research and gather information, and other aspects of client care. She is also involved in the coordination of trade mark and design renewals.
